Our stickers are being used for good!

In an effort to keep the V8 supercars in NZ, a group out of Hamilton set up a facebook page/movement to try and keep them where they belong! In the process, some of the stickers have ended up in random places – the most notable being on an actual V8 Supercar – as well as a drivers drink bottle and a bum.

We are two normal kiwis living in Hamilton, that happen to be mad crazy about the V8 Supercars. On hearing that NZ was going to lose their round, we couldn’t sit back and do nothing, so we started up a facebook page to get support for our cause. Which is keeping the V8s racing in New Zealand by the way.

We wanted a product that would promote our page and be seen all over the country. A vinyl die cut sticker/decal for cars seemed perfect as it would be seen all over New Zealand.

We understand that people who support our page generally are quite fond of their vehicles, and are quite specific about what they stick to it. We thought about a general bumper sticker, but we felt that the Die Cuts stickers gave a level of professionalism and were a product that people would happily stick on their pride and joy.

The words on our design are the name of our facebook page. The layout was designed by customstickers.co.nz.

Recently, kids have become a larger part of some of our lives around these ways – mostly because we had some.

These are all vector design programs – and we recommend them for your sticker designs. Vector is good because it works in lines and points, not pixels – which means that you can increase and decrease the size of your designs without distortion. We like them for our Vinyl Die Cut Stickers, as they show the exact path that our cutter will take. When digitally printing our stickers, a vector design means that the final print quality will be outstanding – and a single cut path from a vector file can be used to cut a custom shape around your printed sticker if needed

Stickers and signs are a great way to promote and display your brand – and Smoothies taste good. Customstickers.co.nz recently manufactured and installed instore signage and Liquids for Life in Downtown Auckland. The job required a pricings signboard, and a laminated, cut and digitally printed wall sticker for the main wall instore.

We made the sign out of Clear Acrylic, laid a frost layer on the back over a reverse printed layer bto give it separation and put Vinyl Die Cut Stickers on the front so that the prices could be changed as time passes – and prices rise.

For the wall sticker we used Premium bubbleless vinyl, that was cut to a custom shape and laminated to protect it from flying strawberries.

Liquids for life do great smoothies – go down and check them out if you get a chance.

Dolphin Shipping imports cars to New Zealand, and were looking for removable stickers to identify their cars with. The stickers needed to be robust enough to las the distance from Japan, and also be removed from the car with a minimum of fuss. We provided a Custom Removable Screenprinted Custom Sticker and they got the job done. 1000 stickers later, they were loaded up and all their future cars were on the way to NZ with a little bit of customstickers on them.

Custom Removable Screenprinted Custom Stickers were the best option because they needed a high quality print in a large number, with high quality removable vinyl.

Creative Sticker design is important – but the actual artwork behind your sticker is even more important! We are going to make a file so that we can Vinyl Die Cut an Auckland Sticker to show how to do this important step.

Adobe Illustrator is a great program for design. We receive files for printing and cutting stickers everyday in this format, but a lot of them don’t have one simple thing done – fonts converted to outlines. For the best results, we need to have all fonts converted so that we can cut or print your sticker to the highest quality. Converting the fonts to outlines also means that we don’t need to have your font on file – and means we don’t make spollang miztakez by accident…

1.- The first step to making this sticker, is to choose a font and subject. For this sticker, we will choose the word Auckland, because we live here, and the font is a great one for stickers called LHF Ballpark Script. You can find a good similar free font HERE, but you will have to create your own swoosh. Type out the word Auckland, and rotate it slightly to get the angle needed in order to replicate the classic ballpark style.

2. – With the word selected, right click on the text, and in the drop down menu over the sticker click CREATE OUTLINES. You can also go to type/create outlines.

3. – If you go to View/outline (cmd/y), you can see the exact cut path that the knife will take to cut this Vinyl Die Cut Sticker. All of the lines will cut – which is a problem for our sticker as we dont want the overlapped parts to cut out, just the outline of the whole word. We also want to add a nice baseball swoosh to this logo.

4. – First we will add the swoosh. Using the LFH Baseball Swash font, that comes as part of the package, we select the swash we want. Move it to place, and then create outlines again so that the swash is an outline. Make sure that you customise this part of the sticker using the direct selection tool to make it a little wider and longer. You can also leave the outline view so that you can line up the join of the swash and the letter D perfectly.

5 – To get rid of the overlapped lines on our sticker, select all the outlined letters, and then in the pathfinder tool click MERGE. This joins all the outlines of the letters together to make one shape. Essential for what we are going to do with this!

6 – Click view/preview (or cmd/y), and you will see that the image looks exactly the same as if you hadn’t merged all the outlines – but now that you are smarter you know better…! All that is left is to send our sticker design to the cutter, and make sweet auckland sticker magic.

Once the sticker is cut, (or you have it delivered), apply carefully and revel in your creative genius. Well, not really as it’s hardly an original idea now is it…..
